How the Sale Works
The sale is built into the booking pages rather than bolted on with a coupon. On every tour marked Book online, the calendar, the per-person price and the total already show the discounted figures, with the regular total struck through next to them. Here is the whole flow, in the order you will meet it.
- Pick a tour, a departure date and your rooms. The 20% applies to every departure date up to March 31, 2028, so a January 2027 trip and a March 2028 trip get the same discount. Online booking closes 40 days before departure, so the earliest trips you can still book during the sale leave in mid-December 2026.
- Choose a hotel grade and any extras. Optional day tours and other extras offered on the booking page are discounted too, because the 20% comes off the total, not just the tour fare.
- Place a free hold. It holds your rooms for 8 business days and takes no payment. You will see the sale line in the price breakdown before you confirm.
- Pay the invoice. Our team emails an invoice for a 20% deposit, or for the full total when your departure is within 85 days. It is payable within 7 days, and your booking is confirmed once it is paid. The balance is due 85 days before departure, as in our General Booking Terms.

Twenty-five tours can be booked online on this site today, and all of them are in the sale. We read each tour's public booking calendar on October 31, 2026 and noted the lowest per-person price it showed for a departure between December 10, 2026 and February 9, 2027, and again between March 20 and May 20, 2027. The “regular from” column is that lowest figure, the “sale from” column is the same figure less 20%, rounded down, which is exactly how the booking page calculates it.
Two things to keep in mind as you read. First, these are floors: a Saturday departure in cherry blossom season, a Deluxe hotel grade or a single room all cost more, and the booking page shows the exact total for your own choice. Second, the family routes are priced for three adults sharing a triple room, because they only sell triple and quad rooms; everything else is two adults sharing a twin.
The Golden Route and beyond: 9 to 15 days from Tokyo
Ten routes start in Tokyo and work west. The shortest, GR508, is the classic nine days through Hakone and Kyoto to Osaka; the longest, GR503 and GR506, run fifteen days and reach Fukuoka. Four of them (GR502, GR505, GR507, GR510) have a Basic hotel grade, which is why their floors are lower than the eleven-day Ise-Shima route.

Short and central: Kansai in 6 or 7 days
The two Kansai routes start and end in Osaka, so they suit a shorter holiday or a stopover. KA501 is the cheapest tour in the sale at US$704 per person after the discount on its lowest January date; KA502 heads north from Osaka to Kanazawa, Shirakawa-go and Takayama for seven days.

Theme parks: Tokyo Disney Resort and Universal Studios Japan
The three TP routes stay at Tokyo Bay Maihama and Osaka Universal City, the hotel districts next to the two parks. Park tickets are not included in the tour price; you buy them from the parks for your dates. TP502 is the park-focused nine days, TP501 adds Kyoto and Hiroshima over thirteen.

Koyasan: temple stays, spring 2027 departures
The five KM routes include a stay in a temple lodging on Mount Koya. The lodgings are closed to our bookings over winter, so these tours have no December to March departures; the prices below are their lowest April and May 2027 dates, and the 20% applies to them like any other departure.

Tokyo, Hakone & Kyoto: Japan’s Classic Escape
The route most first-time visitors end up choosing: three nights in Tokyo, a hot-spring night in Hakone, two nights in Kyoto and two in Osaka, with the intercity trains, the hotels and one luggage transfer arranged. Cherry Blossom 2027 Is in the Sale Too
The departures up to March 31, 2028 include the whole of spring 2027, and that is where the discount is worth the most in dollars. Spring prices are higher than winter prices on every route: between March 20 and May 20, 2027 the nine-day GR508 ranged from US$2,520 to US$5,720 per person on the calendar we read, against US$2,150 in January. Twenty percent off a US$4,000 peak-week departure is US$800 per person, and it applies to the dates most people want.

Cherry blossom season, from late March to mid-April, is the busiest time of the year for travel in Japan, and hotels and trains fill up fast. If you are thinking about spring 2027, booking during the sale locks in both your date and the discount, so it is worth planning early. Kanazawa and Takayama bloom about a week after Kyoto, so these two routes give you a second chance at the blossoms.
What Is Not in the Sale
- Tours booked by quote request. Routes without the Book online mark (our walking trips, ski trips, luxury trains and most regional itineraries) are priced by our team and are not discounted. You can still ask for a quote on any of them.
- Bookings made before November 1. The discount cannot be applied to an existing booking.
- Other discounts and benefit codes. The sale cannot be combined with them.
- International flights. No self-guided tour includes flights to or from Japan; every tour begins in Japan.
- Theme park tickets on the TP routes, and the few experiences a tour page lists as payable locally.

- Booking period: November 1, 2026, 00:00 to November 30, 2026, 23:59, Japan time. In Sydney that is November 1, 02:00 to December 1, 01:59 AEDT; in New York, October 31, 11:00 (EDT) to November 30, 09:59 (EST).
- Departures: any date until March 31, 2028. Online booking closes 40 days before departure.
- Regular price: the price the same tour, date, hotel grade and rooms were on sale for on this site before the sale began. The sale price is that price less 20%, rounded down.
- Changes: if you change a booking made under the offer, the discount stays on the changed booking.
- Cancellations: charges are calculated on the discounted price you paid, under the General Booking Terms (20% of the tour cost between 60 and 41 days before departure, rising in steps to 100% in the last 12 days).
- Prices: per person, in the currency you choose on the site. The total shown before you place your hold is the amount we invoice.

Do I need a promo code?
No. During the sale the tour pages show the discounted prices directly, with the regular total struck through, and the price breakdown you see before placing a hold includes a Black Friday Sale line.
Does the discount apply to cherry blossom 2027 and other peak dates?
Yes. The 20% applies to any departure up to March 31, 2028, including the 2027 cherry blossom season, Golden Week and the 2027–28 winter, as long as you book between November 1 and 30, 2026.
Do I pay the full amount when I book?
