Looking for Something Different in Tokyo? Try This Unique Beauty Experience in Omotesando
A hands-on showroom in Omotesando where travelers can try the latest Japanese beauty technology — no shopping pressure, multilingual staff, free skin analysis, and a quiet café.
When you travel to Japan, places like Asakusa and Shibuya often come to mind. You might also think of experiencing Japanese culture through matcha, or taking a trip to Mt. Fuji. As one of Japan's major cities, Tokyo offers countless ways to enjoy your trip — but how you spend your free time can really shape your overall experience.
We work on planning self-guided tours for travelers, and often find ourselves asking: What is something a little different — something that still feels uniquely Tokyo? That's how the two of us came across Panasonic Beauty OMOTESANDO and decided to visit it ourselves. We'd like to share this experience as one of the great spots you might want to include during your trip.

Omotesando: A Stylish Area Full of Shops and Great Spots
Omotesando is one of the best spots in Tokyo, easily accessible from Shibuya and Harajuku. The area is lined with stylish cafés, shops, and stores, making it a great place to explore while enjoying the atmosphere of the city. It's the kind of location where you can simply walk around and stop by any place that catches your eye.

Panasonic Beauty OMOTESANDO is located near Omotesando Station, just a short walk from the main street, making it easy for travelers to visit during sightseeing. Panasonic is a well-known Japanese company that almost everyone in Japan is familiar with — you may have heard of the brand or its reputation for high-quality Japanese electronics.
Before visiting, we imagined it would be more like a typical showroom for beauty devices — but in a good way, the experience was completely different from what we expected.

Free Trial Area: A Hands-On Experience for Travelers
The most impressive part for us was the free trial and self-beauty care area — the Atelier.

Rather than focusing on selling, the space is designed to let visitors first experience Japanese beauty technology. Anyone can casually try the latest beauty devices, and multilingual staff are available — making it comfortable for international travelers. You can check your skin and hair condition and receive recommendations based on your needs.

While you can easily try the devices on your arm, the highlight is the free trial booths. You can remove your makeup and actually try the beauty devices on your face. Skincare products and Japanese cosmetics are also provided, so you can experience popular beauty items from Japan as well.
Travel often involves a lot of walking, so having a place where you can sit down, relax, and take your time was something we really appreciated.

✨ What You Can Try in the Atelier
- •Skin and hair condition diagnostics with personalized recommendations
- •Gua sha-style facial massage devices
- •Latest Panasonic beauty appliances on your face in a private booth
- •Japanese skincare and cosmetics provided to use
Discover Japanese Technology and Craftsmanship through Beauty Appliances
Another highlight was the technology Lab, where you can experience Japanese innovation in a very hands-on way.

For travelers visiting Tokyo, it's a unique opportunity to explore Japanese technology and craftsmanship in a fun and accessible environment.

Inside, you'll find many of Panasonic's latest devices on display — and you can actually try them yourself. For example, there is an experience where you stand under eight advanced hair dryers releasing nano-level ions at the same time. You can instantly feel how your hair becomes smoother and more manageable.

There is also a system that measures the number of beard hairs on your chin and recommends a suitable shaver, which you can try on the spot. This makes the visit feel less like shopping and more like an interactive experience.

One of the most memorable displays was a traditional Japanese sword. As a symbol of Japanese culture and art, it was interesting to learn that similar forging techniques are used in the inner blades of Panasonic's shavers.

Why It Matters
Knowing this kind of background story adds a special meaning when choosing souvenirs or gifts — the same blade-forging tradition behind a Japanese sword goes into the shaver you might bring home.
Souvenirs and Great Gifts You Can Use Back Home
There were many items on display, but we found some especially suitable for travelers looking for souvenirs or great gifts (omiyage).
One is the VITALIFT KASSA, a gua sha-style beauty device. It uses USB to Type-C charging and supports international voltage (100–240V), making it easy to use both during your trip and back home. It's a practical item that could be a great gift for yourself or your loved ones.

Another is the LAMDASH PALM IN, a compact portable shaver that also charges via USB to Type-C. Small enough to fit in your hand, it's convenient for travel and could be a thoughtful gift for family members or friends. It also features blade technology inspired by Japanese swords, which gives it a unique story as a souvenir from Japan.

🎁 Travel-Friendly Gift Picks
| Item | Charging | Voltage | Engraving? |
|---|---|---|---|
| VITALIFT KASSA (gua sha) | USB to Type-C | 100–240V | Yes — Omotesando only |
| LAMDASH PALM IN (shaver) | USB to Type-C | 100–240V | Yes — Omotesando only |
| Hair dryers | Direct plug | Often Japan-only (100V) — confirm with staff | Varies |
💡 Always confirm voltage compatibility with staff before purchasing.
Both items come with an engraving service when purchased at the Omotesando location, making them feel like a more personal and special gift.
Hair dryers are also very popular, but since many are designed for Japanese voltage, it's important to check before you decide to purchase one. Being able to get this kind of information directly from staff is another helpful part of the experience.
These items can be enjoyed both during your trip and after returning home, making them meaningful souvenirs from Japan.

Take a Break at a Cozy Café Stand
There is also a café space where you can take a break during your visit. They offer carefully selected coffee beans and lattes using oat milk. We tried the matcha latte, and it had a rich and authentic flavor.
It's a great place to relax during your trip, especially when you want a short break between sightseeing.
